Toby came to our rescue with his siblings Mercy and Betty who were owner surrendered to a shelter. We were told their parents are Border Collie, and Border Collie/Australian Sheperd mix. A DNA test has not been done of them, however. He was born with a long, curly tail. He has a clean bill of health, a microchip and is up to date on all vaccinations and tests.
Toby is super sweet, smart, playful and cuddly. He is very food motivated and is learning to sit, come and other basic commands. He’s very tolerant of the leash and will go for short walks. He and his sibling Betty have adjusted well to their foster home with 3 other older dogs (2 males and 1 female) and a cat. He’s respectful of the older dogs, licks their mouths, and picks up on their cues easily. He sleeps well in her crate at night and will let us know when she needs to go out. He was very quick to potty train.
He plays and chases with his sister and our neighbor’s dog, a young BC mix. Toby warms up and is friendly with new people and dogs.
Toby will do well in a home with another young or middle-aged dog. He has not been around any young children. He was very good and sweet with two 10-year-old boys who played an held here. He’s very interested in trying to play with the foster’s cat but will back off when told ‘no’.
Toby loves to run around the yard, dig in the dirt, and chase and roll around with his sister. He’s not scared of water and hung out with his sister for a bit on the steps of the pool. He is very active and curious about all the new smells and sounds. He seems to be the most easy-going out of his litter. He loves to follow his foster parents around and ‘help’ with whatever they’re doing. He LOVES to snuggle and is wants to please.
Toby is being fostered by Karen and Mark Johnson in the Outer Banks, North Carolina (Nags Head). For more information, please contact Karen Johnson at koizzy08@gmail.com
