Biography: Rowdy is estimated to be around 6 years old. His exact age is unknown since he was rescued from the side of the road. He is neutered, fully house trained, and current on all vaccines.
Rowdy has been around teenagers (13–19) and has done well with them. I’m not sure how he would do with younger children. With other dogs, he may do best with balanced, respectful dogs. He didn’t get along with a couple of mine, but with the right match he could do well.
Rowdy enjoys relaxing and being close to his people. He’s perfectly happy curling up on the couch, but he also enjoys getting out for walks and playing with a ball. He has a pretty easygoing personality and is content to follow your lead—whether that’s a relaxing day at home or some time outside.
He is clicker trained, e-collar trained, and walks nicely on a leash. Because he loves to explore, he should not be off-leash without an e-collar, as he may wander and take a while to return.
Rowdy would do best in a home without cats or small animals such as bunnies or guinea pigs. His current living situation hasn’t allowed him to be the happiest he could be, and I truly believe the right home will help him thrive.
He really is a good boy who deserves a loving home where he can relax, play with his ball, and spend time with his people. I’m happy to continue helping with e-collar training for anyone who adopts him. I’m an open book about Rowdy, so please feel free to reach out with any questions.
He deserves the very best. Don’t let his age fool you—he’s a laid-back guy who’s just as happy lounging on the couch as he is going out for a walk.
He cannot be unattended in a home or a vehicle without being kenneled.
Does the dog have any medical issues? No
Does the dog have any history of aggression such as growling, lunging, snapping or biting any adult or child? Yes
I want to be fully transparent about Rowdy’s background so he can find the right home. Over the past five years he has lived with friends and family. He spent time living with my dad, where he had a lot of freedom outdoors. Because of this, he developed a habit of chasing and catching small livestock such as goats and a mini pony. For that reason, he would do best in a home without small animals or livestock. After that, he lived with an older gentleman who took him to barn hunts and regularly exercised him, which Rowdy really enjoyed. When Rowdy was crated, he would sometimes nip in an attempt to avoid being left behind, as he preferred going along for activities. Currently, while I’m attending school in North Carolina, Rowdy’s routine involves being crated for about five hours during the day and overnight. This setup hasn’t been the best fit for him, as he’s happiest when he has more freedom, activity, and time with his people. Rowdy would thrive in a home where he can get regular exercise, playtime (he loves the ball!), and companionship. With the right environment and structure, he is a very loyal and enjoyable dog to have around.
Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals? Yes
Rowdy does have a strong prey drive and has caught small animals in the past, so he would do best in a home without small pets or livestock. If other dogs get into a disagreement, he may try to involve himself, so a home with calm, well-balanced dogs—or as the only dog—would likely be the best fit for him.
Reason for re-homing? Rowdy is looking for a new home because I currently have too many indoor dogs. He really enjoys being an indoor companion and spending time with his people, and I’m no longer able to give him the home environment he prefers. He’s a wonderful dog and deserves a family where he can relax inside and be part of daily life.
