Biography:
Meet Roo. Roo is a 2.5-year-old Border Collie mix weighing about 40 pounds who is finally ready for a home of her own. After being surrendered to a shelter while raising a newborn litter, Roo got a second chance through rescue. Once out of the shelter, she immediately stepped up and became an incredible mama to her puppies. Now that her puppies are weaned and she’s scheduled for her spay on the 22nd, it’s Roo’s turn to be someone’s baby.

Roo is everything I didn’t know I loved about Border Collies. She’s smart, affectionate, eager to learn, and forms an incredible bond with her people. She’ll happily follow you around the house, sleep in bed with you, and then settle down and relax nearby while you go about your day.

She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children. She loves stuffed toys, enjoys a good game of tug, walks beautifully on leash, has excellent recall, and is crate trained. She has a nice medium energy level—she enjoys adventures and training, but she’s not the type that needs to be in constant motion.

Roo can be a little cautious with new people at first, but she warms up quickly. She’s also an impressive athlete and will need a secure yard, as she’s been known to find creative ways to get closer to her people if left behind outside. She’s not trying to run away—she simply wants to be wherever her family is.
As a foster who typically works with Labs and bully breeds, I can honestly say Roo has made me understand why people fall so deeply in love with Border Collies.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion, adventure buddy, and best friend, Roo may be your girl.
