Rabbit

Rabbit (formerly Ailsa) is a 1 yr and 6 month old pureblooded Border Collie. She was surrendered by her owner along with her sister Egan (now Luna). Rabbit is pretty close to being fully house broke and crate trained. Rabbit is just gaining freedom to be lose in my house while we are gone for short periods of time. She will occasionally shred the paper towel roll if she can find it but for the most part she isn’t destructive. She is often loose in my kitchen unattended and she has never broken into the cabinets to steal food and she had never gotten into the trash can which would be easy to do. So overall, she is very well behaved. She is very calm indoors and just wants to be by her people and have her belly rubbed. She is heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccines, spayed and microchipped.

Rabbit is a little shy at first but very friendly and cuddly. She is working on building more confidence. She didn’t get to experience much of the outside world other than her backyard so everything is still new to her. She loves being with people so much that she will follow you anywhere she is just unsure about what things are still. For example, we went into Petco and PetSmart and she did great. She was a little unsure what a shopping cart was and trying to pull away from it. Slow introduction to life is all she needs. She has already become way more comfortable in stores and outside my home. We went down to the creek and she loved to rock hop down the creek and wanted to play. We also went on a longer trail hike on busy Labor Day weekend and she met dozens of dogs and passed probably close to 100 people in the narrow trail and was fine. She showed zero reactivity towards dogs or people. Rabbit really enjoys the dog park she can trot around the dog park for an hour strait just exhausting other dogs that try to chase her. Rabbit also went kayaking with me and rode in my kayak She was very calm in my boat and LOVES the water. She mostly chases other dogs that are fetching in the water and will chase a toy thrown but doesn’t bring it back.

She is good with other dogs but we are working on cats. She will likely eventually be fine around cats. She mostly ignores them but will occasionally chase them. So far when she chases she doesn’t do anything to hurt them. She has met several middle-aged children are is okay but loud children scare her at first. No young children for her since I have no way to test her reaction to them. She plays and wrestles with my three dogs and the other foster dog. She doesn’t fetch yet and she may never but she will run after a frisbee she just doesn’t bring it back. I am still getting to know her but she is a very loyal always by your side and she’s friendly dog who would love a home where she can be cuddled and probably adventure outdoors like hiking.
