Nora

Adopted

Nora has been adopted!

Nora is a 7-month-old, tri-colored, border collie mix puppy who is fun, spunky and sweet all at the same time. She loves to play with her toys, run in the yard and can occasionally be found getting into a little curious puppy mischief. She is working on her big girl manners like not nipping or jumping but she is extremely smart and food motivated making her a very easy training buddy. She knows to sit, shake, spin left, spin right and down so far. She is also potty trained and crate trained. She loves to play with her foster brother and sister and does actually get along with cats too. She will chase a cat to initiate play but has been known to give a kiss or two to a tolerant kitty friend. She is very cuddly at the end of a big day and will curl up on your lap or beside you on the couch for a little down time.

Beyond being an adorable bat girl, Nora does have a little bit of special needs. Unfortunately, Nora’s start to life was very difficult and she came into our rescue extremely sick back in early August. She had a severe injury to her rear right paw that left her with 1 broken & dislocated toe, another whole toe missing and had developed an infection from the wound. She was covered in fleas, had a massive amount of crusty skin and hair loss and was severely dehydrated and malnourished. On top of that, she quickly developed pneumonia in addition to the foot infection she was already fighting. However, this little girl is a major fighter. Thanks to an amazing team of vets and resources from CBCR, she got immediate vet attention and has been on a road to recovery.

You wouldn’t know she was so sick because now she will run, jump and play like any normal puppy. The infection has cleared and her wound is healed but she will always have a funky back paw. We sought the opinion of two different board certified orthopedic veterinary surgeons and it is their opinion that she does not need any kind of surgery right now. She has no pain and gets around very normally. There is a small chance that as she grows and gets older she could need some vet attention for her two middle toes so any interested adopter would need to be aware of that. But as it stands right now, she can go about her happy life with her paw as-is. She may never be an agility or working dog, but she will be an excellent active companion for the right family.

Nora’s spunky zest for life and love for her humans make her such a sweet and special puppy, and sometimes you even forget that she is practically missing half of a paw. She’s overcome so many health obstacles to get to this healthy point and is now ready to make a perfect companion for the right person/family. She would do best in a home with no young children as she still needs more training on her puppy habits. She is used to having a fenced in backyard to run and play in so that would be preferred as well. Nora just needs more time, training, patience and understanding that comes with having a high energy puppy. But her foster mom and dad may be biased, but we think to know Nora is to love her. ?
