Miles
Adopted
Miles has been adopted!
Adopted: Miles has found his forever home. We wish him the very best life possible.
Miles (formerly Dega) and his sister (Talla – adopted) were among several animals seized from a bad situation. The two puppies were declared unadoptable as they were extremely afraid of people, under-socialized, and terrified in the chaos of the shelter. A CBCR volunteer saw a glimmer of hope in these puppies and decided to give them a chance. They went into different foster homes to recover and train.
Miles was scared and confused, but after a few days, he seemed to understand he was safe. After a week, he turned a corner and started playing with the resident dog. Two weeks in and Miles is all-around happy and playful. He is still a little jumpy when people approach him quickly and it will take him more time to relax. That being said, with calm, gentle approaches, Miles really enjoys being touched. We suspect he’ll be a total lovebug in a matter of weeks or months.
This pup has assumed all the normal mischief and readily joins games of tug, wrestling, and chase. He learns by watching the resident dog and picks up most of her queues and behaviors. We don’t know how Miles will react to new dogs, cats, or very young children. However, he is playful and sweet around the resident kids (ages 9 and 13). He also responds appropriately to “no!” or “stop!” when he picks up something he should not have (i.e. a shoe).
Miles sleeps through the night in his crate and is learning to go to the bathroom outside. He needs frequent potty breaks to be successful, as well as the boundaries, close supervision, and training that are typical for a puppy. Miles’s forever home should have at least one playful canine and an owner that is experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to continued socialization and training.
We think Miles is 5-6 months old and weighs around 20 lbs.
