Biography: Meet Max: Your Next Agility Star or Adventure Partner!
Breed: Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) Mix
Age: 6 years young (A true Christmas miracle, born 12/25/2019!)
Status: Neutered male, up to date on primary care
If you are looking for a loyal, shadow-dog who will look at you like you hung the moon, Max is your guy! Max was rescued on Christmas Eve 2024, and thanks to a DNA test, we even know his exact birthday.
The Ultimate Working Dog
True to his herding heritage, Max has energy for days and a brilliant mind that loves to work. He doesn’t just need physical exercise—he craves a job! He is incredibly eager to please and keeps his eyes laser-focused on his person (sometimes so intensely that he forgets to look where his paws are stepping!). He would absolutely thrive in agility training, nosework, or any activity where he can use his sharp brain.
The Ideal Home
Max is looking for an active, breed-savvy home where he can be the center of attention. Because of his working-dog intensity and a desire to keep all the love (and resources) to himself, he would do best as an only pet or potentially with a very laid-back canine sister. Because he is a high-drive herding mix who values his personal space, an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers will be the best fit.
Health & Next Steps
Max is a resilient survivor! He was heartworm positive when rescued and successfully completed the full, rigorous months of heartworm treatment. He has been acting healthy and vibrant ever since! He is due for his final follow-up clearance test to officially confirm he is negative, which his new family will want to wrap up with their vet.
A Note From His Foster/Owner:
“Due to an unexpected career layoff, my financial situation has changed, and I can no longer give Max the time, specialized attention, and active lifestyle a high-energy herding dog truly needs to thrive. It breaks my heart, but keeping him in a home where I can’t provide those extra-long daily walks or working outlets isn’t fair to his mental well-being. He is a phenomenal, smart dog who just needs a home that matches his incredible potential.”
Does the dog have any medical issues? No
Does the dog have any history of aggression such as growling, lunging, snapping or biting any adult or child? No
Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals? No
Reason for re-homing? Due to an unexpected career layoff, my financial situation has changed, and I can no longer give Max the time, specialized attention, and active lifestyle a high-energy herding dog truly needs to thrive. It breaks my heart, but keeping him in a home where I can’t provide those extra-long daily walks or working outlets isn’t fair to his mental well-being. He is a phenomenal, smart dog who just needs a home that matches his incredible potential.
