Junior

Adopted

Junior has been adopted!

Looking for a big beautiful pup who will steal your heart with just one look? CBCR is introducing Junior! He was born on December 1st, 2023 and although he has grown into his 50-lb adult body he is still a puppy through and through.

Junior is neutered, house-trained and up to date on basic veterinary care. His DNA was tested and although his former owners were positive that they had purebred Border Collie pups on their hands, they were mistaken. Junior is a blend of Border Collie, Spaniel and Retriever. That is one sweet mix, if you asked me. Junior loves to get into water, a creek, a kiddie pool, even a water dish can be refreshing and fun. Lucky for his humans, he also enjoys being rubbed down with a towel.

He is great with other dogs, has not been tested with cats. Although he does not exhibit much prey drive, he would love to catch a butterfly, a toad or perhaps that pesky rabbit, who seems to ignore him from the other side of the fence. He is sleepy in the morning but as the day wears on his energy winds up. He is not a couch potato and would be happiest with another energetic young dog to play “catch-me, catch-me”.

Junior will bark at a stranger (or a hooty-owl) and I found out recently that a car ride, after a meal, ends up in disaster. Hopefully he will be able to tolerate car-rides and warm up to strangers as he matures.

Like any pup of his age, Junior is going through a chewing phase. Chewing on inappropriate objects can easily be redirected to his own chew toys. Digging or any unwanted behavior can also be redirected to fun play time. In other words, his human has to pay attention and give him fun things to do.
