Frank O’Malley

Adopted

Frank O’Malley has been adopted!

If ever there was an honorable dog, it is Frank O’Malley. He is a 5 year old purebred Border Collie with a mellow, kind, and affectionate personality. He has soft golden brown eyes and stands tall (~23”), with excellent conformation. When playing fetch or running with other dogs, his tail is held high and in constant wag.

Frank and his sister (we believe) had been dropped off in a remote woodland area near the Virginia line. We don’t know how long they had been there before being discovered, but he was emaciated and pitiful at that time. He is now a robust 50 pounds, but has retained some fear of loud machinery and road noises.

If you are looking for a companion dog, Frank is your canine. He is a wee bit shy when he meets with a person for the first time, but warms up quickly. He loves to be taken for long walks, followed by sleeping most of the day away.

We have been taking him to a dog park once a week, and to a “day camp” twice a week as an opportunity for increased socialization. He has never met a dog whom he hasn’t loved; but chases after squirrels and cats. He would likely benefit from living in a household with one other dog.

Frank is neutered, up-to-date on all of his core, and non-core vaccines, and takes year round heartworm preventative. He has recently been diagnosed with discoid lupus. Discoid lupus is a benign form of lupus that is confined to the leather of the nose. For Frank this means he needs to have sunscreen applied to his noble nose when out in the sunshine. Otherwise, he is as healthy as anyone wants their canines to be, and will live a perfectly normal lifespan.

Frank is looking for a safe, secure, loving and permanent home.  Please text Wendi at 919-998-9125 if you are interested in meeting him.
