Denali

Hello my name’s Denali. I was dropped off at a local shelter by my owners because they couldn’t keep me anymore. They thought I was 5 years old but it’s more likely I am 2-3 years old. I have bounced around in life due to my easily excited personality. I LOVE people. So much that I want to bark playfully until they come pet me and jump and give them hugs. I also love other dogs but can play pretty rough at first and other dominate male dogs typically don’t like me. Boy do I love to run and play. I have a pretty decent amount of energy. I need a job to do like serious fetching or agility. If I don’t have enough time to run and play I get pretty bored and I will find a way to entertain myself. She says I’m unique, very loyal to my people and all around a very happy outgoing dog. My biggest flaw is in a completely new situation I get overly excited and forget to listen to my mom but I have gotten much much better at this already. Chasing cars and barking at them is super fun! Barking at the vacuum and lawn mower are also really fun. I have a lot of the typical Border Collie quirk’s. My foster mom started basic obedience training with me. Little did she know I’m a genius. I will do ANYTHING for a treat. Once she added clicker training to my daily training routine I started to learn new tricks in no time. Now instead of ignoring her when she wants my attention I come right to her. I am also crate trained and basically house broke. Pretty impressive for a couple weeks in her home huah? Enough about me now lets talk about you!

What I am looking for in my new home is FUN! I love to play, cuddle and have some form of hobby/job to do regularly. Like agility, frisbee or nose works. I want humans who have time to exercise and play with me. I enjoy hiking and going to PetCo. I do pretty well but I still need exposure to these new places. I can get a little excited and pull on my leash and bark but with the new clicker training I am learning when to “look at me” and focus on my foster momma instead of barking. I would LOVE it if you had a fenced in backyard to run and play in but I am open to other exercise opportunities you have in mind. Like running, obedience training or nose works. Another large dog would be awesome but like I said it needs to be the right dog since I annoy certain dogs. You also can’t live in an apartment. I wouldn’t be able to handle it. If you live with neighbors close by my fence needs to be solid so I can’t see neighboring dogs. If my neighbor starts to bark I will also and annoy the neighbors. I find other dogs I can’t play with super distracting when they are on the other side of the fence. You also need you to be patient with me. I do have energy and need training so if you knew how to train me that would be pretty cool. If you don’t train me I will act like a bratty teenage Border Collie. If you have never had one they can be a handful. If you can provide that for me I promise I will follow you everywhere, cuddle on your pillow with you and love you forever.

Yours Truly,
Denali (the super handsome Border Collie looking for his new furrever humans)
