Biography: We have made the difficult decision to re-home our dog, Dax. With our third child on the way, we have realized that we are no longer able to give him the care that he needs. He has also started eating our kids toys and taking food out of our kids hands.
Dax is an approximately 8-year-old collie/pointer mix. He is mostly calm inside the house, unless you’ve just gotten home, guests arrive, or it’s close to meal time, but he also has plenty of energy and loves spending time outdoors. When he sees dogs passing by, he will bark and sometimes growl. He would do well with lots of space to run and play, but we are, unfortunately, unable to provide this for him. We would like to find him a safe and stable home. Please reach out with any questions you have. We are happy to provide additional information!
Does the dog have any medical issues? No
Does the dog have any history of aggression, such as growling, lunging, snapping, or biting any adult or child? Yes. He barks when people enter our home, but he does not growl. He will take food out of our kids’ hands, not aggressively, but he is not gentle when he does this.
Does the dog have any history of aggression toward other animals? Yes, He will growl at other dogs, but he plays well with our other dog. They growl when playing, but this may not be aggressive behavior; it’s more likely just play.
Reason for re-homing? We are expecting our third child and don’t have the time to give him the attention he needs and allow him to exercise to the extent he needs. Because of this, he has started engaging in bad behavior, including eating our kids’ toys and books that are left on the floor.
