Daisy has been adopted.
A sweet, funny girl, Daisy loves people of all ages. She craves human attention, and her most favorite thing to do is to “ask” for and receive petting. She likes to give “hugs” with her front legs and would literally melt into your arms. She adores children and plays very nicely with them, too.
Daisy came from a hoarding situation, was intact (probably had puppies in the past), suffering from a urinary tract infection, and tested heartworm-positive. She had to figure out what life inside a house was all about. Common household noises would startle her, and she was absolutely terrified of the stairs. With time, she got over most of her fears and is now able to enjoy life inside with no issues. She also mastered those dreadful stairs and runs up and down with ease.
While Daisy has been adjusting really well overall, house training is still a work in progress. She needs to be let out frequently to avoid accidents. She is crate-trained and likes being in her crate, but does not seem to understand what dog beds are for – she shakes them and shreds into pieces! – but other than that, she is not destructive in the house.
Daisy lives with multiple other dogs in her foster home, and generally does okay with them. She is, however, a bit assertive at times, which does not work well with dogs who have a strong personality. At this time, we would still consider homes with other dogs for her, but would need to evaluate her interaction with the resident dog(s) first. She definitely does better with calm and submissive dogs and would enjoy to be the center of attention. We are unable to test her with cats, but based on her behaviors suspect that she would not be good with a cat.
Daisy is food-motivated and is learning basic commands. She is very eager to please and in general very responsive to training. We would like for her new owners to continue with her training as well as exposing her to new things (group obedience classes would be beneficial). Daisy likes to go on walks and explore the world. She does not pull, but since she most likely has not had much experience with the leash, she runs in circles and gets tangled – we are working with her to teach her how to walk on a leash.
We are looking for a moderately active, dedicated owner who will continue working with Daisy to build her confidence and help her become a well-rounded companion. She promises to offer endless hugs and kisses in return. She would also be delighted to be included in all of her new family’s activities.
