Brodie

Brodie is a handsome 4–5-year-old purebred tricolor Border Collie with a distinctive split face and beautiful brown eyes. He is an affectionate, intelligent, easy-going boy who loves being with his people and has become a wonderful active companion.

Brodie came into rescue as a stray, so we don’t know much about his earlier life. He was heartworm positive when he arrived, but after completing treatment in foster care, he is healthy and ready to find his forever home.

During his time with us, Brodie has made tremendous progress. He is housetrained, crate trained, uses a dog door and knows basic commands including sit and down. He is eager to please and continues to improve his recall and stay. He is a great passenger in the car and loves to go for outings!

Brodie has a lovely balance of activity and relaxation. He enjoys walks, trails, playing with our Border Collie and may even enjoy an occasional swim. But he’s equally happy resting at your feet or cuddling beside you. He isn’t a dog who needs a job every minute of the day—mostly, he just wants to be wherever his people are.

He does quite well away from home around people and dogs. He has joined us at outdoor restaurants, parks, live music and larger gatherings and has become more accustomed to large groups of people. At home he can initially be shy with unfamiliar visitors and may bark, but he has improved greatly and warms up with calm reassurance and positive reinforcement.

Brodie gets along well with our dog, although people are definitely his favorite. Another friendly dog could be a nice companion, but Brodie’s greatest wish is simply to belong to someone.

Thunderstorms make him very nervous, and during a storm he prefers to stay close to his person.

Brodie’s ideal home will be with someone kind, calm and affectionate who will continue building his confidence. A securely fenced yard is required; no electric fences.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who can enjoy a walk or hike with you and then happily curl up beside you at home, Brodie may be your boy.
