Betty came to our rescue with her siblings Toby and Mercy who were owner surrendered to a shelter. We were told their parents are Border Collie, and Border Collie/Australian Sheperd mix. A DNA test has not been done of them, however. She was born with a bob tail. She has a clean bill of health, a microchip and is up to date on all her vaccinations and tests.

Betty is super sweet, very smart, playful and cuddly. She already loves the ball and will happily bring it back to you when you throw it. She’s very food motivated and is learning to sit, come and other basic commands. She’s very tolerant of the leash and will go for short walks. She and her brother Toby have adjusted well to their foster home with 3 other older dogs (2 males and 1 female) and a cat. She’s respectful of the older dogs, licks their mouths, and picks up on their cues easily. She sleeps well in her crate at night and will let us know when she needs to go out.

Betty is very food motivated. She plays and chases with her brother and our neighbor’s dog, a young BC mix.  Betty can be a little timid and shy when she firsts meets another human or dogs but she quickly warms up after knowing she’s safe.

Betty will do well in a home with another young or middle-aged dog. She has not been around any young children. She was very good and sweet with two 10-year-old boys who played with and held her.  She’s very interested in trying to play with the foster’s cat. She barks when she sees the cat, which we are working on.

She loves to run around the yard, chase her brother and balls. She’s not scared of water and even ventured and stayed on the step of the foster’s pool for a bit. She’s athletic and needs an active life. She would do great with agility, nose work and catching frisbees.

Betty is being fostered by Karen and Mark Johnson in the Outer Banks, North Carolina (Nags Head). For more information, please contact Karen Johnson at koizzy08@gmail.com
