Beckham
Adopted
Beckham has been adopted!
Beckham is a smart, confident, somewhat bossy 8-month-old puppy. He is very trainable, limited only by what someone wants to teach him.
Beck loves to chase and be chased by his older sibling and is almost as fast. If no one is around, he can entertain himself with a toy. He taught himself “catch.” He will bring the object back….. if you toss the right one. See Beckham in Action:

Beck lives with 9 other dogs and gets along well. He initially tried to intimidate a few of the females in the home around food and his person. He is much better now but may give it a shot in a new situation. Don’t let his sad little face fool you. He now will sit patiently with the pack and wait his turn for treats.
For being a semi-feral puppy in his previous life, Beck has fully embraced the soft comfy life. You won’t catch him lying or sleeping on a bare floor. A dog bed will do in a pinch, but he much prefers a human bed or sofa. He has been a bit spoiled and sleeps on the bed at night.
Beck is not overly demonstrative in his affection, not a wiggly waggly fellow. He just wants to be by his person. When he knows his family better, this may change.
Out of curiosity, Beck’s DNA was tested. If you are looking for a purebred Border Collie, he is not your boy. He is all herding dog with a whisper of Chihuahua. His vet thinks he will be a small dog. 73% Australian Shepherd, 15% Miniature American Shepherd, 4% Border Collie, 4% Collie, 2% Australian Cattle Dog, 2% Chihuahua. Beck’s right ear is not quite sure what it wants to be. Sometimes all up, sometimes half up and sometimes just a quarter down. The position may have something to do with his mood.
Beckham is neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He knows a few basic commands like “sit,” “wait,” and “come.” We are still working on house training. He does not have accidents in his crate or overnight.
Beck’s perfect home would have an older dog to teach him the ropes and play with him. He would make a great sports dog as he is highly athletic. He will not be placed in a home with any kind of invisible fence system or one that uses electronic, “stimulus” training.
