Adopted: Bailey has found her forever home. We wish her the very best life possible.
We are so excited to tell y’all about Bailey! She is a five-year-old, 54lb., spayed female. Bailey had a DNA test done which tends to always be a fun surprise. She is mostly Border Collie, Australian Shepard, Great Pyrenees, and Collie… without a doubt a perfect mix! She is a beautiful dog with a blocky head, gorgeous markings, and soulful eyes. She has the sweetest, calmest personality. If you ever read the book or saw the movie, “A Dog’s Purpose”, she is like one of the dogs that have been through many experiences already – an old soul. She rides well in the car, knows basic commands, and walks fine on a leash. We have run into loud noises, other dogs, and people on walks and Bailey has done just fine. She has excellent manners, has never chewed up anything, does not counter surf or trash dig, and hardly ever barks. She is loveable and enjoys belly rubs. She loves her face to be touched and sets her head in your hand (which reminds me of Chris Stapleton’s Maggie’s Song – if you haven’t heard it, go listen to it right now). She has gotten along with all the dogs she has been around and has been around a lot of different types of dogs, even very grouchy little dogs. She wags her tail and is welcoming to all. She loves all people that she has been around, including men and teens. We’ve not had her around small children, but she seems like the type of dog that would be great for young children. She is mellow and takes treats ever so gently. She has zero food aggression or issues in the food area. We’ve not had her around any other animals except dogs. If you are looking for an energetic, agile sporting dog, Bailey is not the dog for you. She likes her short walk and runs around in our large backyard playing, but she’s done pretty quickly compared to her crazy BC foster sisters.
Bailey’s previous family reported that she suffered from separation anxiety. For this reason, we recommend she go to a home where she will not be left alone on a daily basis. We have left her alone for a few hours at a time in our house, and she did great. The previous owner also reported that Bailey was scared of storms. We have not seen this response yet. We have two big skylights in our living room, and rain sounds loud on them. We have had several rainstorms with only light thunder. It does not seem to bother her at all. Through the 4th of July weekend, she didn’t seem bothered by fireworks here and there. However once it started sounding like a war zone, she got scared and hid under the bed. She came out later and was fine. We were told that she doesn’t like to be kenneled. She has taken naps in her foster sister’s kennel on her own accord with the door open, but at night she sleeps on a doggie bed in our bedroom. She sleeps all night no problem. Bailey is a fantastic companion and just a good ‘ole dog!
