Alyx, Alyx Ann, Alexandrea is an adorable four and a half month old Border Collie/Aussie puppy. Her mom, Nellie, is reported to be 100% Border Collie and her pop, 50% Border Collie and 50% Aussie. Alyx was surrendered to rescue along with her mom Nellie due to financial reasons. Her former owners showed her love and affection and that is evident by her friendliness to all.
Alyx is a lot like most puppies, “Everything is mine and if you have it, I want it!” Mom Nellie may have spoiled her a bit allowing her to take things right out of her mouth.
Alyx never lived in a house so she is raw material as far as house manners, (“everything is mine”). If you need anything shredded, she is your gal. Alyx’s housetraining is progressing well. She will go and sit by the door when she needs to go, but you need to notice this. She has never had an accident in her crate. “In the box” is her cue to go into her crate. She sleeps in her crate without a peep.
Alyx has had no training. We are working on sit, stay, wait and place. If adopted soon, don’t expect a trained puppy. She comes reliably to a whistle. You can expect a very food motivated girl, ready to learn. She will need a soft touch. She is not as tough or brave as she thinks she is.
Alyx would benefit from an older brother or sister. Currently, she take a lot of cues from her mother. She needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. An experience Border Collie home is preferred. No type of electric fence, collar, etc. is acceptable.
Alyx is located in Durham, NC. For more information, contact Ann Sevareid Miller at annMiller@nc.rr.com or 9196826125.
